Instead of focusing on the negatives, perhaps you could consider exploring constructive criticism or discussing specific areas for improvement in the college experience. This approach allows for a more balanced and productive discussion that can lead to positive changes and improvements in the education system. If you have specific concerns about your college experience, it might be helpful to address them directly with the appropriate channels within your institution or seek support from counselors or advisors. 6. #5 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaFlorida State UniversityTallahassee, FL·4 Year·Rating 3.88 out of 5 7,668 reviewsSophom*ore: My experience at Florida State university was definitely a 10 out of 10. The campus is beautiful, and a reasonable size so finding ones classes, and walking around is manageable. The school is also home to over 300 clubs so finding something to do for my selective interests was doable. The fitness center is also amazing! The equipment is top tier, and the classes offered at the rec center are enjoyable, and are a great way to spend time from studying. The student life is also fun, as wherever you go on campus one will find people, and things to do! The dining halls are also very good, and have numerous food options. I personally have many dietary restrictions, and FSU's dinning hall made it easy for me to see what I can and cannot eat, as well as having numerous choices of food. 7. #6 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaUniversity of GeorgiaAthens, GA·4 Year·Rating 3.99 out of 5 5,787 reviewsSenior: Going to UGA was the best decision I could have made! It is a great combination between academics and a social scene. I felt like there was always something to do, but there also wasn't immense pressure to go with the crowd. The campus is beautiful with many places to study and hang out with friends. Athens as a whole has also been so much fun to live in. It was more of a small town that I originally expected, but I learned to love its charm. As for academics, I have found great mentorship from my professors, and I have genuinely enjoyed every program I have gotten involved in on campus. There is a lot of freedom to explore different majors and take courses outside of your direct line of study. I always felt challenged but never like I was being given impossible work.... I am currently studying wildlife and wildland conservation, and I have had more opportunities to immerse myself in my studies than I expected. The teachers I have had for both general and major classes are extremely passionate in what they teach, making it more encouraging to learn. Within my major, teachers have provided opportunities to go on field trips related to what we're studying as well as kept us updated on research and job opportunities related to wildlife and wildland conservation that are available. 11. #9 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaUniversity of Texas - AustinAustin, TX·4 Year·Rating 4 out of 5 6,785 reviewsSophom*ore: I really love the city of Austin! The "weirdness" of Austin jumps out at you in the best way. The countless times I've gone to the groovy thrift stores or south Congress Ave with friends have been some of the best moments of my young life. The culture at UT is one of a kind as well. I feel that every person attending college feels a certain amount of pride in their school, like its a part of their identity almost. With UT its that and then some. Being from Maryland, experiencing the lone star state has been otherworldly. The pride in Texans and in the school is like no other, and it has certainly rubbed of on me. Though I am only a sophom*ore I am a Longhorn though and through! On top of the great city, the larger than life students, the sports and the like, UT is an academic institution first. Classes can be tough, and you feel it. Having to juggle social life with the grueling curriculum is something I had to work very hard for and still haven't quite got the hang of yet.... 12. #10 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaUniversity of Illinois Urbana-ChampaignChampaign, IL·4 Year·Rating 3.79 out of 5 5,024 reviewsJunior: I really do believe that UIUC gives a great balance of academic life and a social life. Coming here was one of the best decisions I made. There are many opportunities to get involved with campus life such as being a part of one of the 100+ RSOs on campus. I personally made many new friends, got involved in many different organizations, and learned so much from my professors' and peers' experiences. Research Park is a great place to work as an intern with multiple reputable companies, and I feel more prepared after doing an internship in Research Park. The campus scenery is beautiful as well. Taking a walk down the South Quad is peaceful and relaxing and if you go further down, Japan House awaits you with cherry blossom trees! 13. #11 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaBentley UniversityWaltham, MA·4 Year·Rating 3.68 out of 5 805 reviewsFreshman: I just finished my first year at Bentley and I had a great experience! They prepare you for the future and that makes me feel good knowing I'll probably have a job right out of college so you get your money's worth. It is a much bigger party school than I expected, with the frat parties. Even though Greek Life is only about 20% it's very prominent on campus and those who are involved in it are very involved. But of course not everyone goes out and there's other things to do if you're not into that. In regards to the food, it was a lot better than people on here make it out to be. I think they improved that last year in particular because of the complaints. There are lots of options in the dining hall, and if worst comes to worst you don't like anything, the other food spots on campus are really good (La Cava, Einsteins, Currito). College is definitely an adjustment for anyone, especially first semester of your freshman year, but everyone I know grew to love Bentley by second semester.... 14. #12 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaUniversity of MiamiCoral Gables, FL·4 Year·Rating 3.87 out of 5 3,084 reviewsSenior: Couldn't have had a better 4 years and more fun time! I lived basically like Alix Earle (college wise and not fame wise). There is something to do every single day. I was able to go out 6 nights a week and maintain my workload pretty easily. I absolutely loved all my classes and the professors. Most of my class sizes were small and very discussion based which I find best for learning. My professors were all super nice, available, knowledgeable, and understanding. Campus is beautiful! Greek life is take it or leave it, people involved really like it and I wasn't in a sorority but was still able to go to all the frat parties. I love the academics here and the party scene and I'm so sad I am graduating next week. Anyone can really find their place here and if you want to tan in January or a serious student you should come here and study by the pool. Only con of the school is the cost, but if you can afford it or get a lot of financial aid it's more than worth it!... Villanova’s beliefs, traditions, and values are a huge part of the reason I love it here! The people here are loving, accepting, understanding and supportive! I’ve met the most amazing people (of course there’s always outliers) at Villanova and lifelong friends for sure! UF is known for its strong academic programs and rigorous standards which is one of the main reasons I chose to attend. The campus is vibrant, offering over 1,000 student organizations, academic clubs, cultural organizations, sports, or the arts, there is something for everyone. UF benefits from a mix of urban and natural environments, the city is a friendly, college-town vibe and plenty of outdoor activities, cultural events, and a warm climate. However, there are areas for improvement. Some introductory courses can be quite large, making it challenging for students to get individual attention. Streamlining academic advising will be very beneficial. Parking is one of the largest problems too because it is very difficult to find a spot and lots of fines to go around.... However, all of the amazing faculty at Ohio State made it super easy to transition to a new school. I was able to get involved with student organizations from day one of being on campus. I love how many different ways there are to get involved; there truly is something for everyone here. Since it is a larger school, it is a little more dependent on your own self to get involved and take advantage of all the things that are offered. I also love having the city of Columbus to take advantage of! There are so many things to do and it makes it super easy to get off campus. I also love how proud everyone is to be a Buckeye. It is very accessible when it comes to transportation, food, and resources outside of the school; however, more student life activities that are convenient within a certain timeframe would be better and having more wide range of professors in each course than ones who has been teaching their for a while and loss their passion in teaching. 27. #25 Best Colleges for Accounting and Finance in AmericaTulane UniversityNew Orleans, LA·4 Year·Rating 3.77 out of 5 1,683 reviewsJunior: Tulane University is such an incredible place for so many reasons. Because it is not said enough, the quality of professors here is absolutely unbelievable. The campus is beautiful, the students are happy, and the weather is perfect, minus the rain. The academics are rigorous but manageable, leaving time to get involved in extracurriculars, explore New Orleans, or anything else you want to do. New Orleans is an amazing and fun city with so much to see! The class sizes, at least for me personally, have been so small, and the relationships I have built with my professors are so special. The social climate can be a bit tough to manage for introverts or for those who do not enjoy going out often, but once you find your niche it is a non-issue. The academics are super flexible, and I'm able to graduate early despite choosing to study abroad! The culture and the people here are truly special, and I urge anyone interested in Tulane to consider checking it out and applying!... What Should You Expect as an Accounting Major?

As an accounting major, you will most likely be under the umbrella of business. First-year courses begin with general business principles. As you progress in the major, classes focus more on accounting principles. You will have structured and practical education through courses in business administration, mathematics, and accounting basics.

If you are serious about being in the accounting field, the following topics and skills will be critical:

    • Public speaking
    • Mathematics
    • Finances for small businesses and corporations
    • Data analytics
    • Economics
    • Business principles

You will learn how to create and manage systems that accurately show you the day-to-day finances of an organization or business. You’ll be able to analyze the overall financial position of a business or organization with ease.

What’s the Difference Between Accounting and Finance?

Because accounting and finance are both related to business principles, it can be easy to confuse the two when searching for the best accounting schools. The accounting major focuses on the daily management of financial reports for a small business or large corporation. The finance major is more future-focused, using financial statements to analyze a company's finances and potential for future growth. Finance is more about strategy and influence, whereas accounting is more about financial management.

Studying both accounting and finance as your academic majors could be beneficial post-graduation. Both majors have their own set of learned skills. It could be well worth the time to search for the best finance schools in Niche while searching for the best accounting schools.

What Can You Do as an Accounting Major?

One misperception surrounding accounting as a major is that you can only work as an accountant after graduation. An accountant is one career choice, but accounting majors have multiple career options, including:

    • Tax Manager— Tax Managers oversee a team of accountants to prepare taxes and ensure the accounting operation follows established government regulations. Based on the type of business, a tax manager will develop plans for saving the business money by reducing taxes.
    • Bookkeeper— Bookkeepers manage financial records by tracking all business transactions, including income, expenses, accounts, invoices, and other financial transactions. This career makes it possible to work for a single company or several companies on a contract basis. You will likely interact with accountants regularly as a bookkeeper.
    • Internal Auditor— Internal Auditors investigate mismanagement within companies. You'll look at financial statements to determine inconsistencies. You also provide suggestions to a company that can improve its finances. When auditing large amounts of data, it is critical to have an eye for detail.
